Citroen has updated its plug-in hybrid C5 X and C5 Aircross models, bringing better electric-only ranges and improved efficiency in the process. The new C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid now offers up to 41 miles of electric-only range – up from 40 miles previously – meaning it also moves from the current 12 per cent benefit-in-kind (BIK) taxation band into a lower eight per cent band. French car company Renault has unveiled a sweeping green revamp, splitting its operations in two: a new electric vehicle unit and a subsidiary for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars that will pair up with China’s Geely. A Bolt mini-cab driver has been arrested after allegedly trying to kidnap a female passenger, the Mirror can reveal. A Met Police spokesperson said officers arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of false imprisonment following the incident in London. Bolt has also confirmed it has temporarily suspended the driver while it investigates the allegations. Self-driving vehicles could be running on motorways in the next year, the Government has revealed. Drivers will still need to have a licence so they can take over on other roads. But by 2025 the aim is for autonomous buses and delivery vehicles to run without the need for a driver. After the announcement yesterday, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the vehicles would make roads safer, create up to 38,000 jobs and be worth £42 billion.
